Tessa & Green Snake

March 31st, 2016

Contessa Le Rouge,  “Tessa”, was four months old on Monday, March 28th. She’s growing quite fast. Two months ago she weighed about 3 lbs – today she’s up to 5.6 lbs. I had originally thought her maximum weight would be around 6 lbs – but now am beginning to suspect it’ll be more like 7 lbs.

Last Friday we visited Dr. Cutler at the VCA Desert Animal Hospital for a regular checkup. She also received her final puppy vaccinations and is now able to safely mingle with other animals. She’s since played with a neighbor doggy and had a great time.

Tessa continues to show needs related to puppy teething and chews on practically anything. So far I’ve lost one radio speaker cable, one Internet cable and barely caught her in time to save an electric lamp cord. Have since moved all cables and cords away from her reach.

She’s a joy to watch bounding around the residence, learning to make noises, fighting the doggy in the mirror and playing with puppy toys. She’s particularly fond of a 4 ft long green snake toy that she wrestles, drags around and chews. It’s many times her size but that doesn’t deter her from pulling it from room to room. Photos below show her wrestling with the snake.

We now do morning walks which Tessa seems to enjoy and particularly so when we encounter anyone (person or animal) during those outings. She’s very, very social and tries to greet everyone within sight. She’s also the most energetic bundle of activity that appears to currently exist in our neighborhood.
